Police Blotter: Man Given 6 Charges, 4 Regarding Drugs

Same individual charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to maintain lamps.

On Aug. 19, police arrested Kyle C. Ahneman, 24 of Oak Island, N.C., and charged him with driving while intoxicated and careless driving. Police had observed Ahneman operating his vehicle in an unsafe manner while on Woodland Road. Once stopped for this violation, it was determined that he was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol and ultimately arrested. After processing he was released to a family member pending his court appearance.

On Aug. 19, police arrested Robert C. Oldendorp, 19, and a 17-year-old male, both of Madison, and charged them with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Madison Police were called by an anonymous source reporting a suspicious vehicle parked on Woodcliff Drive. The caller indicated that the individuals may be using drugs inside the vehicle. Upon arrival on Woodcliff Drive, the officers discovered the occupied vehicle and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a brief investigation the two individuals were arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. After processing, the juvenile was released to a family member and Oldendorp was released pending his court appearance.

On Aug. 20, police arrested Luke A. Richardson, 24 of Madison, and charged him with simple assault and terroristic threats following a dispute. Police were called to a Cook Avenue residence on a report of an assault that had taken place. Upon arrival and after a brief investigation, it was determined that Richardson had assaulted an ex-friend and threatened to harm them. He was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. After processing, Richardson was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail.

On Aug. 20, police arrested Benjamin K. Boamah, 29 of Staten Island, N.Y., and charged him with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, being under the influence of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended drivers license, and maintenance of lamps. Police had stopped Boamah on Route 24 for an equipment violation and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  After a brief investigation, police located the marijuana and arrested Boamah for the violation. He was ultimately processed and released pending his court appearance.

On Aug. 21, police arrested Christopher F. Beauchamp, 23 of Morristown, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain a lane, and careless driving. Police had observed Beauchamp driving on the shoulder of Route 24 and stopped him for the violation. After a brief investigation, it was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and Beauchamp was arrested.  Beauchamp was released the following morning pending his court appearance.

On Aug. 21, police arrested Fitzroy A. Ellington, 44 of Orange, and charged him with criminal simulation (fake insurance card), having a fraudulent inspection sticker, driving with a suspended license and no insurance. Police had randomly run Ellington's registration as he passed the officer on Madison Avenue and discovered that Ellington, the registered owner, had a suspended license. Once stopped for this violation, the officer determined that Ellington had presented him with a fake insurance card and could see that his inspection sticker was also fraudulent.  Ellington was ultimately arrested for the insurance card and transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released pending his court appearance.

On Aug. 22, police arrested Paul Gorcsi, 61 of Parsippany, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and careless driving. Police were searching the area of Punch Bowl Road in Florham Park on an unrelated call when the sound of screeching brakes were heard from behind. Police then noticed the vehicle swerve to miss hitting the police car from behind as the officer sat at a red signal at Park Avenue. Police ultimately stopped the vehicle on Park Avenue and determined that the driver, Gorcsi, was under the influence of alcohol. Gorcsi was arrested and transported to the Florham Park Police headquarters for processing. After processing, he was released to a family member pending his court appearance.

The Madison Police Department and Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to approximately 20 medical emergencies during the past week. The police department investigated six motor vehicle crashes during the same period.
