Police Blotter: Man Arrested in Robbery, Assault

Police are searching for two more individuals.

On Nov. 20, police arrested Jhony Agudelo, 43 of Madison, and charged him with robbery, aggravated assault, and theft.  Madison Police were called about a bleeding male at the Madison Shell gas station on Main Street.

Upon arrival, the officers encountered the victim bleeding profusely from his face.  He told officers that he was assaulted and robbed by three males who demanded cash from him in the rear of 9 Prospect St. As officers canvassed the area, they spoke to a witness who said the suspects ran into a Lincoln Place apartment. As the officers entered a common hallway of the building they noticed an open door to one apartment and bloody clothes lying on the floor. While checking the apartment, officers discovered a false wall and one male hiding among the piping in the wall. Officers also noticed blood on this individuals clothing. After brief questioning, Agudelo was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing.  After processing he was transported to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.  The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries. On Nov. 18, police arrested, Alfredo Builes-Berrio 33 of Madison, and charged him with terroristic threats and stalking. On Nov. 2, the Madison Police Department was contacted by the alleged victim who reported that she had been receiving harassing and sexually explicit calls from an unknown individual for approximately four years.  On some occasions, she would receive these calls 15 times a day, four to five days a week. The unknown caller also described her daily outfits and activities as well as her home address.  On one occasion the suspect made threats against the victim which put her in fear of her safety.  After the investigation, police were able to link Builes-Berrio to the phone calls from phone records. Builes-Berrio was ultimately arrested on East Street following a motor vehicle stop. After processing, he was remanded to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail and an outstanding $500 Madison warrant.  He was also charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license.

On Nov. 19, police arrested John A. Cupo, 24 of Denville, on the strength of a $170 Boonton warrant.  Police had stopped Cupo on Main Street for failure to reinspect his vehicle. Once Cupo’s information was checked by the officer, he was alerted to the outstanding warrant and the fact that Cupo’s driver’s license was suspended. Cupo was ultimately arrested and transported to headquarters for processing.  After posting bail, Cupo was released pending is court appearance. 

On Nov. 19, police arrested Scott P. Cuskaden, 37 of Morristown, on the strength of two Morristown warrants totaling $600. Police were called to the area on Main Street and Waverly Place on a report of a suspicious person. Once officers arrived in the area, they made contact with Cuskaden, who fit the description that was given by the caller. The two active warrants were discovered once his information was entered in the computer. Cuskaden was ultimately arrested and turned over to the Morristown Police Department.

On Nov. 22, police arrested Charles T. Young Jr., 27 of Madison, and charged him with disorderly conduct, obstruction, and resisting arrest. Police were summoned to the Cook Avenue parking lot on a report of a suspicious male walking in the lot and looking into cars. Upon arrival, the officers encountered Young, who was described as immediately uncooperative and belligerent towards the officers. During inquiry, he continued his disorderly behavior and was ultimately placed under arrest.  During the arrest, police said Young resisted officer’s commands as they attempted to handcuff him. After a brief struggle he was brought under control. He was then transported to police headquarters for processing and was later released after a family member posted his $5,000 bail. The officers sustained minor injuries during the struggle.
