Police Blotter: 911 Phone Call Leads to DUI Arrest

Driver also charged with driving with a suspended license.

On May 2, police arrested Cesar Andrade Portillo, 30 of Morristown, and charged him with driving under the influence. Police initially stopped Portillo after a 911 cell phone call reporting that he was driving erratic. Police determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member. He was also issued motor vehicle summons for failure to maintain a lane, and driving with a suspended license. A mandatory court appearance is pending.

On April 27, police arrested Kahliph Bruson, 29 of Elizabeth, on the strength of a warrant. Police were contacted by the authorities of Roselle who had Brusnon in custody. He was taken to headquarters for processing. After processing he was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, pending a mandatory court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On April 29, police arrested Kristen Luts, 25 of New Vernon, on the strength of a $114 dollar traffic warrant. She was processed at headquarters. After processing she was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Madison Municipal court.

On April 29, police arrested Robert Savacool, 18 of Madison and charged him with obstructing Administration of Law. The incident occurred on April 25 at 11:43 p.m. Police were investigating an assault complaint and disturbance. He stopped Savacool in a parking lot, after Savacool produced identification to police he fled the scene on foot. After an investigation by police, an arrest warrant was issued. Savacool was processed at police headquarters. He was also charged with harassment and reckless endangerment. After processing he was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 dollars bail. A mandatory court appearance is pending.

On April 30, police arrested Nicole Hamilton, 18 of East Hanover, and charged her with possession of marijuana, possession of prescription narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police initially stopped Hamilton for a lit cigarette being thrown from her vehicle. It was determined she was in possession of narcotics. She was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing she was released pending a mandatory court appearance.

On May 1, police arrested Omar Alarcon, 31 of Elizabeth, and charged him with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police initially stopped Alarcon for a motor vehicle violation. It was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and in possession of narcotics. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released pending a mandatory court appearance. Alarcon was also issued a motor vehicle summons for speeding.

The Madison Police Department and Volunteer Corps responded to 12 medical emergencies last week. The department investigated six motor vehicle crashes during the same period.
