UPDATED: Police Arrest, Charge Chatham Man on Outstanding Warrant

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

The usually quiet holiday weekend turned up one arrest on the blotter.

Ptl. James Cavezza arrested 22-year-old Matthew Dudley of Chatham Twp., on the strength of a $1,000 warrant issued by Madison Municipal Court for failure to appear.

Cavezza had been contacted by Chatham Borough Police Department, which had Dudley in custody.

The warrant was related to a 2008 charge of defiant trespassing.

Dudley was taken to Madison headquarters for processing and then to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.

The Police Department, , and responded to 15 medical emergencies. Police investigated five motor vehicle crashes during the week.
 
Police also asked residents who tip or leave gifts for trash collectors and recycle collectors not to leave such items out, to prevent them from being stolen or taken by the wrong collector. They suggested handing it to the collectors in person.
