Overturned Truck Snarls Traffic on Route 10

Three-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Ridgedale Avenue in Hanover.

An accident involving an overturned truck and two other cars at the intersection of Route 10 and Ridgedale Avenue in Hanover backed up traffic on eastbound Route 10 from Parsippany and Morris Plains around 12:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

One of the drivers was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Cedar Knolls First Aid Squad after complaining of pain, police said.

The three-vehicle accident closed three lanes, which were gradually reopened until all lanes were open at 3 p.m., police said.

The truck was carrying water to a construction site, and the water was pumped out of the truck and then the vehicle was removed from the scene, Hanover Police Sgt. Michael Loock said. The Whippany and Cedar Knolls fire departments, Morris County HAZMAT team, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and New Jersey Department of Transportation responded to the scene.

Because the truck landed on its side near a storm drain, some of the officials responded as a precaution to ensure no truck fluids entered the drain. The Department of Transportation detoured traffic at the scene.
