NY Jet Did Not Violate NFL Drug Policy, Players Association Chief Says

New York Jets tight end and Madison resident Kellen Winslow should not face an NFL suspension after being charged for possession of synthetic marijuana in East Hanover, a players association executive said.

While synthetic marijuana is illegal in New Jersey and other states, it is not on the NFL's list of banned substances, said NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, according to NJ.com.

Winslow, who was suspended four games last season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, was arrested in November after a woman saw him allegedly masturbating in his SUV in the Target parking lot on Route 10.

Winslow, 30, pleaded not guilty to the drug charges. A Winslow spokeswoman said the tight end was changing his clothes that night and the witness' statement was an "unfounded and ridiculous claim."
