Police found slain man after 911 call Monday night; no threat to community, police report.

A man was found shot dead in a Flanders home Monday night and authorities say a suspect has been identified.

Mt. Olive police received a call related to an incident at 2 Apollo Way just before 10 p.m. Monday, First Assistant Prosecutor Tom Zelante and Mt. Olive Police Chief Mark Spitzer said in a joint statement.

When patrol arrived, they found a deceased male, spurring an investigation, Zelante said.

The investigation is ongoing and the man’s identity will not be released until next of kin is notified. There is no threat to the community, Zelante said, and a suspect has been identified. That person’s identity is currently being withheld.

Apollo Way is a residential street near Rt. 206 in the Flanders section of Mt. Olive Township.

Mt. Olive police, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section are all investigating the killing.
