Man Killed in Short Hills Mall Carjacking

Victim and his wife, who was not injured, were returning to their vehicle after shopping shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday.

A 30-year-old man was killed Sunday during a carjacking at The Mall at Short Hills, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released pending family notification, was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor's office said.

The man was shot in the head while returning with his wife to their SUV in the parking deck at about 9:10 p.m., according to NJ.com. The man's wife was not injured, the article said.

The two assailants fled in the 2012 silver Range Rover with license plates U26BVD, the article said.
