Man Beaten in Dispute Outside Dunkin' Donuts, Cops Say

Boonton resident charged with simple assault after another man allegedly confronted his wife, spit on his vehicle.

A Boonton resident struck another man in the head and face for arguing with his wife and spitting on his vehicle outside Dunkin' Donuts, Madison Police said.

Edward Harding, 53, was charged with simple assault after the incident on Main Street Nov. 3 at about 7 p.m., according to a report released by Acting Police Chief Darren Dachisen.

According to the report, Harding and his wife stopped in traffic to let several individuals cross the street near the Dunkin' Donuts. A "minor confrontation" took place, the report said.

While Harding went inside the Dunkin' Donuts, one of the males who crossed the street went up to Harding's vehicle and confronted his wife, the report said.

After the exchange with Harding's wife, the man allegedly spit on the vehicle, the report said.

Harding witnessed the incident, came outside and "struck the male several times in the head and face causing injury," the report said.

Harding was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

What, no charges against the charm school dropout who harassed a woman and spit on her car? And surely there must be another Dunkin Donuts somewhere between here and Boonton.

Unfortunately our godless society condones these actions.

I don't understand how this happened .... Seems like the guy got mad because somebody was actually nice enough to let him cross the street????

Walking across Main Street in front of Dunkin Donuts is tough - particularly on Saturday mornings. Because even if a motorist is kind enough to stop and allow you to cross, the guy behind him just swerves around to pass on the shoulder. It is like that in front of the Staples shopping center as well.

What does belief (or not) in God have to do with this incident? I know plenty of atheists/agnostics who would never dream of behaving the way these characters did.

"Accost the helpless woman!" Really? The helpless woman driver who flipped the kid the bird after waving him on to cross then almost running him over only to start dialing 911 as he was asking why she gave him the finger!! " Protecting his woman", in her locked car with the windows up? What from - a little teenager trying to cross the street for a doughnut? So the 53 year old punches the little teenage kid repeatedly in the head and stomach? What "charm school" did HE drop out of! Maybe that's where he met his female - bird flipping - companion. Whenever you, "don't understand how this happened" you should consider whether or not you have the details!!! I suggest you all watch out for each others kids when you're out around town. I guess letting teenagers walk to town for a doughnut in Madison is a thing of the past.
