Madison Man Killed in Newark Motorcycle Accident

Dwayne Vanderveer, 33, collided head-on with another vehicle Saturday afternoon.

A Madison man was killed Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with another vehicle in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Dwayne Vanderveer, 33, was riding his Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Grove Street when he crashed into a 2001 Honda traveling south near the intersection of Grove and Grain streets in the West Ward at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the prosecutor's office said.


Vanderveer was pronounced dead at the scene, the prosecutor's office said. The driver of the Honda, a Cape May resident, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Unit and the Newark Police Department.
