DUI Charge for Chatham Twp. Driver

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A speeding stop flagged one driver for DUI on the blotter this week.

Tamara Melo, 40, of Chatham Township was charged with driving under the influence on Feb. 8 at 11:02 p.m. Madison Police Sgt. Dennis Lam initially stopped Melo for a speeding violation on Green Avenue. He determined she was allegedly operating her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Melo was taken to headquarters for processing and released  to a friend. She was also issued a summons for speeding.

On Feb. 10 at 8:34 a.m. Ptl. James Cavezza arrested 31-year-old Denise Daiuto of Whippany on the strength of a $127 traffic arrest warrant issued by Annandale Municipal Court. Cavezza initially stopped Daiuto on Woodland Road for an expired inspection sticker. After a field interview he determined that she was wanted by Annandale for failure to appear and was operating her vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. She was taken to headquarters for processing and released after posting bail pending a mandatory court appearance.
            
The police, , and responded to 20 medical emergencies, and police investigated eight motor vehicle crashes during the week.
