Two Charged With DUI
The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.
A pair of early-morning DUI arrests are on the blotter this week.
On Sunday at 2:18 a.m., Sgt. Peter Iossa arrested Ivan Valdez, 29, of Bergenfield and charged him with driving under the influence. Iossa initially stopped Valdez on Route 24 for failure to maintain a lane, and determined that he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, police said. Valdez was taken to headquarters for processing and released. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to maintain a lane.
On Saturday at 12:41 a.m., Iossa arrested 44-year-old June Defabio, of New Providence, and charged her with driving under the influence. Iossa initially stopped Defabio on Madison Avenue for a motor vehicle equipment violation, and determined that she was allegedly operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol, police said. Defabio was taken to headquarters for processing and released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance. Defabio was also issued a motor vehicle summons for a non-working headlight.
The Madison Police Department, , and responded to approximately 19 medical emergencies during the week. The police investigated three motor vehicle crashes during the week.
