Cops: Madison Man Caught Selling Pot Downtown

A 22-year-old man allegedly distributed marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school zone and within 500 feet of public housing, police said.

A 22-year-old Madison man who allegedly sold marijuana in the area of Central Avenue and Main Street is facing charges of distributing the drug in the proximity of a school zone and public housing, police said.

Bruce Wright was arrested Tuesday at about 12:30 p.m. by Patrolman Paul Papamarkos and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school zone and within 500 feet of a public housing complex, authorities said.

Police were responding to a report of suspicious activity and Papamarkos' investigation determined Wright was selling marijuana, according to a news release.

Wright was processed at police headquarters and released pending a court appearance, police said. Sgt. Joseph Cirella assisted with the arrest.
