Chatham Driver Arrested on Drug Charge

DUI arrest also shows up on the blotter.

A motor vehicle stop on Kings Road last week resulted in drug charges for a Chatham resident, Madison Police said Monday.

On May 19 at 9:23 p.m., Ptl. Sean Plumstead arrested Rebecca Lane, 21, and charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia. Plumstead initially stopped Lane for a motor vehicle violation on Kings Road, police said. He determined she was allegedly in possession of narcotic paraphernalia, police said. She was transported to headquarters for processing and released pending a mandatory court appearance. Lane was also issued a motor vehicle summons for no front clear license plate.

On May 20 at 2:41 a.m., Sgt. Peter Iossa arrested Jason Edwards, 30, of Plainfield. He charged him with driving while under the influence. Iossa initially stopped Edwards on Route 24 for a motor vehicle violation and determined that he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, police said. He was transported to headquarters for processing and released pending a mandatory court appearance. Edwards was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain a lane and consumption of alcohol within a motor vehicle.
