Car Tires Slashed in 'Rash of Criminal Mischief'

Incidents occurred over the weekend, Madison police said.

Madison police are investigating a "rash of criminal mischief incidents," including car tire slashings that occurred in an area of the borough over the weekend, authorities said.

Some residents in the area of North Street and South Street reported their car tires were slashed on Saturday evening, Madison Police Det. Kenneth Shannon said in a news release Wednesday.

The tires appear to have been slashed with a knife, he said.

The Madison Police Detective Bureau is investigating and police are asking anyone with information to call the police department at 973-593-3000.

I lived in Yonkers and this happened all the time and still does. I do not and will not ever understand the rationality behind this pointless crime. Why damage another person's property? Why purposely disrupt another person's life? It achieves absolutely nothing. I hope they catch these individuals that did this and send them to jail for a while to disrupt their lives.

I lived in Yonkers years ago as well. Turns out a local tire shop on Nepperhan Avenue had someone slash the tires to increase business.....
