Car Theft From Cook Plaza Lot Caught on Video, Cops Say

Surveillance footage shows man driving off in white Mercedes Benz, according to Madison police.

A car was reported stolen from the Cook Plaza parking lot in Madison last Friday afternoon, and video surveillance shows a man driving off in the vehicle, borough police said.

The car's owner reported his white 2010 Mercedes Benz S550 was taken from the lot around 2:30 p.m., Madison Detective Kenneth Shannon said in a news release.

Surveillance video shows a man entering the vehicle and leaving the scene, according to police.

Authorities described the man as tall, black, wearing dark-colored jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and eyeglasses, and having a well groomed beard. He had long dreadlocks braided together in the back and wore a black do-rag, police said.

The Madison Police Detective Bureau is investigating, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Lt. Dennis Lam at 973-593-3012.
