Bunny in Pool Gets Hand From Madison Cop

An unusual call to Madison Police about a baby rabbit in a pool skimmer has a happy ending.

A officer assisted a resident who found a baby rabbit trapped in their pool skimmer Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police were called about the animal incident at a Colonial Way home and the officer, Sgt. John Keymer, said it appeared the bunny jumped in the pool and wound up trapped on a ledge in a few inches of water.

He borrowed a glove from the homeowner and reached his hand toward the rabbit, figuring there was a chance the bunny would jump in the pool again and he would have to fish it out.

But the bunny went right into his hand, he said.

"Then I put him on the ground and he hopped away," he said.

The bunny isn't the only young wild animal to get itself in trouble in Madison recently. Last month, Madison firefighters .

wait, let me get this right, someone called the police to pull a baby bunny from their pool? Me thinks they watched too much Monty Python...

MadLaxDad, I did not consider the possibility the caller was concerned the bunny was the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. If it WAS, this story likely would have an entirely different ending... (A reference for those not familiar with the guardian of the cave of the Legendary Black Beast of Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_of_Caerbannog ) And from Playwrights Theatre on Twitter minutes ago: "Bravo Sgt. John Keymer of @MadisonPoliceNJ for saving the bunny! Nice work!" ( https://twitter.com/PTNJ/status/228877131889926144 )

@AtlasWillShurg Im glad to see you are capable of sitting at home judging other peoples professions.. if madison patch wrote stories on everything the Madison Police does for this town it would be crazy... so before you judge others think about when you will need them next time.. I guarantee you won't be cracking jokes about them then. Good day.

So if a resident calls for service they shouldn't respond because its a bunny? Should they have let it drown? I for one appreciate the services this town provides. Good job Madison PD.

not sure what's worse: the fact that this article was written, or that I actually read the whole thing.
