Body of Missing Madison Man Found

Search for Stephen Marano ended Monday afternoon in Chatham Township.

The body of a missing Madison man who was the subject of a three-day search was found Monday, authorities said.

Stephen Marano, 24, was reported missing Saturday morning, and authorities quickly began searching the Great Swamp near where his Toyota 4Runner was discovered parked on Brittin Road in Chatham Township. Authorities continued searching Sunday and Monday.

“The body of Stephen Marano was recovered this afternoon in the vicinity of Miele Field in Chatham Township," Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said in a news release. "No foul play or third party involvement is suspected at this time. There is no concern for neighborhood safety."

On Monday afternoon, Chatham Township, Madison and Harding police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office and other officials responded to a ball field on Brittin Road next to where Marano's truck was discovered.

Green Village Fire Department vehicles parked at the field earlier Monday to continue the search, and police arrived later in the afternoon.

Marano was a lieutenant with the Green Village Fire Department and a waiter at the Madison Hotel.
