Police: Employee Captured Alleged Car Burglar in Y Parking Lot

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

An alert employee at the YMCA helped police snag an alleged car burglar in the act, and DUI arrests also show up on the blotter.

On Dec. 15 at 11:13 a.m., Ptl. Kevin Boone and Ptl. Anthony Maccario arrested a local 27-year-old man and charged him with burglary and theft from a motor vehicle and attempted thefts from two other vehicles. Police in a release said an alert YMCA employee observed the man acting suspiciously in the YMCA parking lot and, after determining that he was allegedly breaking into cars, approached and held him in custody and blocked his car in with her vehicle until officers arrived. The suspect was taken to headquarters for processing and released pending a court appearance. Det. Paul Kosakowski is assisting with the investigation.

On Dec. 14 at 1:55 a.m., Ptl. Chris Keller arrested 20-year-old Meghan Murray of Columbia, N.J. and charged her with driving under the influence. Keller was investigating a call that there was an intoxicated person sitting in a car in the Quik Chek parking lot. After a field investigation he determined that Murray was the driver of the car and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to headquarters for processing and released to a family member pending a court appearance. Murray was also charged with refusal to submit to a breath test.

On Dec. 14 at 1:12 a.m., Ptl. Luis Goncalves arrested 60-year-old Kathleen Ormsby of Andover, N.J. and charged her with driving under the influence. Goncalves stopped Ormsby in her car in the Cook Plaza parking lot, and determined that she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Ormsby was taken to headquarters for processing and released to a friend pending a court appearance.

The police, , and responded to 21 medical emergencies, and police investigated five motor vehicle crashes during the week.
