Blotter: Trespass Charge After Foot Chase at Drew

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

An 18-year-old Glen Rock man was charged with defiant trespass at Drew University at 12:38 a.m. on Saturday after allegedly leading a Drew Public Safety officer on a foot chase, Madison police said.

Devin Deraney was reported to Public Safety by an R.A. who allegedly saw him walking around campus with an alcoholic beverage, and Deraney was arrested by Madison police after a Drew Public Safety Officer called the department, according to Madison police news release.

Patrolman Paul Papamarkos responded and made the arrest. Deraney was processed at police headquarters and released pending a court appearance.

Warrant arrest

A 28-year-old Branford, Conn., man was arrested Friday on Madison and Union Township traffic warrants totaling $375 after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding on Brooklake Road, Madison police said.

Christopher Sholun was pulled over by Sgt. Joe Cirella, who ran a computer check that showed the warrants, police said. Sholun was processed and released. He also was issued a motor vehicle summons for speeding, police said.

Driving under the influence

A Millington man was arrested at 3:20 a.m. on Friday and charged with driving under the influence, police said.

Seifalla Elbadrawy was pulled over on Madison Avenue by Patrolman Chad Rybka for allegedly failing to stay in a lane, and was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Madison police news release. Elbadrawy was processed at police headquarters and released pending a court appearance. He also was issued a summons for failure to maintain a lane.

Marijuana possession

A 23-year-old Pompton Plains man was arrested on drug charges around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday at Drew University after a Drew Public Safety officer allegedly found him with marijuana, Madison police said.

Steven Percarpio was arrested by Madison police and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Madison police news release. Percarpio allegedly had less than 50 grams of the drug, authorities said. He was processed at police headquarters and released. Sgt. Joe Cirella assisted with the arrest.
