$100K SUV Theft Caught on Video in Target Lot

Security video shows man drive off in Range Rover, according to police report.

A Range Rover worth $100,000 was stolen from the Target parking lot last week, according to East Hanover Police.

The SUV is a "push to start" and the key fob was inside the vehicle while the owner was shopping last Monday, Oct. 15, according to a police report.

The East Hanover Police Department released video footage from Target's surveillance cameras, which can be found attached to this article.

Security video footage showed a gray car, which appears to be a Nissan Altima, pull up behind the Range Rover at the video's timestamp of 1:11. A passenger exits the car, walks to the front driver's side door and get into the SUV at 2:24 p.m.

Both vehicles then left the parking lot, with the Range Rover following the Nissan onto Route 10, according to the report.

The man who got into the SUV was described as approximately 5-foot-10, wearing jeans and either a long shirt or jacket, according to the report.

The SUV's owner said she arrived at Target at 2:15 p.m. and parked the vehicle in the second spot from the building near the front doors, according to the police report.

When she exited the building at about 3:10 p.m., she noticed her vehicle was gone, the report said.

The 2011 Range Rover is worth about $100,000 and has two stickers on the back, one with the letters "EH" and another with a hot pink monogram of the letters "LGE," according to the report.

The woman's sunglasses, sneakers, Prada bag, house keys and garage door remote were also in the vehicle, according to the report.

Nothing for nothing, but sounds like a typical Morris county resident. "It can't happen to me."

I may be a little off base here, but who shops at Target that owns a 100K vehicle and a Prada bag? What did the vehicle have, gold plated hub caps? Is this a type-o, an SUV worth 100k? That's 1/3 the value of my house. So this woman, who's CAR is worth 1/3 the value of my house is shopping at Target and someone just pulls up, as if it was planned, gets in the SUV, and drives away with her vehicle as if they were waiting for it? Sounds like a scam to me to collect the insurance money.

You have no reason to criticize where she shops. Everyone likes to save a buck. But how do you leave your car key and Prada bag in your car?
