Councilman Was 'Tireless Advocate' for Rec, Obit Says

Obituary for former Madison Councilman Donald Links, who died over the weekend after a battle with ALS, from Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home:

Donald Links of Madison passed away on July 27, 2013, at Lyons VA Hospital in Basking Ridge after a long illness. He was 66 years old.

Born in Teaneck, Mr. Links has resided in Madison since 1998. He was a graduate of the University of Albuquerque. Mr. Links worked as a Corporate Services Manager at Logical Design Solutions in Florham Park for 18 years.

Mr. Links proudly served his community as Council Member for the Borough of Madison from 2010-2012. During his council tenure, Mr. Links was a tireless advocate and driving force behind the development of the Madison Recreation Complex (MRC). (The MRC built two lighted, artificial turf fields and a field home to serve thousands of New Jersey children and their families.)

Prior to his work on the MRC, Mr. Links was active in Madison Recreation Sports – coaching football, baseball, and softball for five years.

Mr. Links was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Madison. He served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War, from 1967-1970.

Mr. Links is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Cross, and his two cherished children, Paul and Kimberly, all of Madison. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Links and his wife Kelly; and his nieces and nephews, Adam, Devine, and Celine.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Links will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00am at Grace Episcopal Church, 4 Madison Avenue, Madison. Interment will be private. Visiting for Mr. Links will be on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Links can be made to: Madison Athletic Foundation, Inc. (MAF), PO Box 195, Madison, NJ 07940. Envelopes will be provided by the Funeral Home.
