Steady Turnout at Madison Polls

Local races, governor contest, special questions draw voters.

A steady stream of Madison residents cast their ballots Tuesday at the North Street Athletic Club, poll worker Isabel Burroughs said.

Local Borough Council and school board races, special questions on hiking the minimum wage and funding for veterans groups, and the county, state and governor elections all were on voters' minds.

Thirty-two-year Madison residents Nancy and Mike Sargent were among the voters at the club Tuesday evening.

The husband and wife said they tend to vote Democratic, but split on the governor's race.

Nancy Sargent said she was impressed with Republican Gov. Chris Christie's handling of Hurricane Sandy, while her husband supported Barbara Buono.

Polls closed at 8 p.m. Stay tuned with Patch for results.
