Week in Review: Tough Budget Decisions

Budget talks started taking center stage in the borough this week, as tough decisions will be made from now until the end of next month.

On Monday, we told you about Once and Again Consignments, a newer clothing store in its location. We also told you about a small fire at Nicky's Firehouse Restaurant that only closed the establishment for a few hours. We also gave you the story of Madison's hot dog vendor.

On Tuesday, we told you about how the Borough Council voted to terminate the contracts of two part-time workers for the Madison Teen Center, with the YMCA as the eventual spot for the borough's teen services. We also told you how the Madison High School ice hockey team advanced in the Haas Cup tournament. The girls basketball team fell to Chatham.

On Wednesday, we told you how three Dodgers would be advancing in the Region 3 wrestling tournament. We reported on the Board of Education's presentation on its thought process going into the budget decision making. We also told you how the Planning Board approved a project at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and Main Street. We also told you how the high school boys basketball team fell to a high-flying Morristown squad.

On Thursday, we reported on the major snowstorm and all the closings and cancellations that it brought with it. We also told you about how four individuals were arrested for trespassing at Drew University in the police blotter.

On Friday, we told you about a special meeting on plan for road construction on Woodland Road and Samson Avenue, including the walkways situation. We also showed you how Mayor Mary-Anna Holden made several proclamations this week. Finally, we previewed the indoor track Meet of Champions by telling you about the Dodgers who would be competing at the event.
