Week in Review: Lights go Out on Main St.

Squirrel causing 40-minute power outage throughout almost entire town tops busy week.

A 40-minute power outage caused by a squirrel was one of the top headlines this week on Madison Patch, a week that was also highlighted by a busy Borough Council meeting.

On Monday, we told you about how, according to the ZAGAT survey, the best fast food burger in the business resides in Madison at Five Guys. We also showed you residents rockin' out to the latest Downtown Concert Series. We also told you how over 100 summonses have been written so far this month in connection to the police department's "Hang Up or Pay Up" campaign to gain compliance with vehicular cell phone use.

On Tuesday night, we were the first to bring you the news on why your power was out: a squirrel got into a piece of equipment at the Kings Road substation. Earlier in the day, we told you about how it would take a few more weeks for the borough council to vote on the nomination of Jim Burnet for the position of assistant borough administrator. We told you about how the borough joined the residents of Brooklake Road in opposition to a proposed community garden expansion by Chatham.
