Week in Review: School Budget Presented

The preliminary school budget stole the headlines this week.

Less than a week after the state announced it would be taking 100 percent of the Madison Public Schools aid for the upcoming school year, the Board of Education had to submit its preliminary budget. The discussion didn't end there, as the remainder of this week residents, school officials, and board members talked up until the budget hearing Friday night.

On Monday, we told you about The London Day School, which is opening up on the Madison/Florham Park border in June. We also told brought you the latest police blotter, which contained multiple drug arrests.

On Tuesday, we told you about details in the school budget, including cuts, as the BOE voted to submit the preliminary budget. We also told you about a charity event, that the Community House was hosting. Finally, we told you about how the recent flooding and the budget was the talk at the latest Borough Council meeting.

On Wednesday, we gave you a gallery from the charity "Have a Heart" at the Community House. We also told you about how Superintendent of Madison Public Schools Dr. Richard Noonan gave a budget presentation to residents at the Madison Junior School. We also told you about Tons of Toys, a new toys store that is close to opening in the borough.

On Thursday, we brought you the first of what will be a continuing series of spring high school sports previews, this one on the Dodgers softball team. We also profiled Councilwoman Astri Baillie, who is not seeking a fourth term on Borough Council after 24 years of service in Madison. We also told you about the Relay For Life event Drew was hosting, with the money going to the American Cancer Society.
