Week in Review: Madison Hit by Aid Cuts

School loses all state funding while borough gets less aid than expected.

This past week was marked by the announcements coming from Trenton regarding the state budget and aid cuts, which affected both the Madison Public Schools and the borough.

On Monday, we told you about how the massive storm system that raged across the area caused damage in Madison, but not to the extent of other Morris County towns. We also told you how Madison resident were reacting to proposed rate increases and service reductions by NJ Transit. Finally, we told you how a familiar face, Carmela Vitale, would be taking the spot left on the Planning Board by Greg Reed.

On Tuesday, we took a look at this year's Taste of Madison, and showed you who we saw at the event. We also previewed the Zoning Board's special meeting dealing with the YMCA's variance application for expansion. Finally, we told you what types of specials you could find in Madison on St. Patrick's Day.

On Wednesday, we broke down Chris Christie's budget proposal and address with an FAQ. We also showed you the reaction from the district and brought you the numbers when it was announced that Madison would lose 100 percent of its aid.
