Week in Review: Local Authorities Look out for Residents

Police and fire departments help keep residents, and in one case their pets, safe.

After putting out a fire before it could spread Saturday at Chef Loryn's, the Madison Fire Department was at it again this week helping residents, only this time in a different way. The Madison Police Department was also on the look out for residents, asking them to help protect themselves after a number of thefts over the weekend.

On Monday, we told  you about a group of students from Madison-based universities helping in the fight against cancer at Relay For Life. We also told you about 12 Miles West Theatre Company closing for the season, and possibly permanently. We also previewed the Madison High School boys tennis team's upcoming season.

On Tuesday, we told  you about brilliant Madison High School senior Akhil Mathew and his latest $50,000 scholarship. We also told you about the Dodgers' boys lacrosse team and its upcoming season. Finally, we told you about the Focus on Foot Traffic group that is doing its best to drive consumers to downtown Madison.

On Wednesday, we told you how the Madison Police Department was asking residents to lock their vehicles after a recent rash of thefts in the Drew University area.
