Week in Review: Businesses Busy in Madison

Owners of new restaurant enjoying new digs, while DDC and Chamber of Commerce begin certificate program.

It was Madison Patch's first full week for borough residents to see, and it was a good one for business news. A new Japanese restaurant is serving food up to residents on Lincoln Place and Holiday Gift Certificates are being sold, good at all Madison businesses.

On Monday, we unveiled our first restaurant review by Cindy Loh on the Garlic Rose (check back Monday for her take on Amici's). If you were looking to finish out fall by enjoying its finest brews, we showed you a list of some of the best.

On Tuesday, we told you about the Downtown Development Commission and the Madison Chamber of Commerce combining with borough PTOs to sell Holiday Gift Certificates at a discount. The certificates are good at any Madison business. We also let you know about an arrest involving theft at the Dunkin' Donuts.

On Wednesday, we shared with you information on how much Madison residents donated to the gubernatorial candidates' general election funds. We also gave you a glimpse at Takuma, a new Japanese restaurant located at 42 Lincoln Place. Sam Cerciello is the newest member of the Borough Council. We gave you a look at who he is and how he became interested in municipal government.

On Thursday, we gave you a recap of the Madison High School ice hockey team's first game of the season. Although they came up short, Lou Cecala showed off his scoring touch with a hat trick. We also told you about the wreathe sale and house tour that was happening on Saturday to benefit the Luke Miller Forge. Playwrights Theatre is housing a new production, and we told you about which was written by a Montclair State University graduate.

On Friday, we showed you a new Web site that allows you to check for deals by town. Madison is one of those towns. We also showed you how much the Madison Borough Council candidates were able to raise for their general election funds. An early look at downtown holiday cheer was captured in a photo gallery.

On Saturday, Madison Patch editor Rick Burchfield wrote about why he thinks Madison's downtown is a special one. We also took a look down the road at the Madison High School ice hockey team's season, which began on Tuesday. We were there to report on that game, and expect to be at many more.
