Rose Guide: Jazz, Baroque, Opera & Rock This Weekend

There is a concert at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, three concerts at Grace Episcopal Church, and two performances at Shanghai Jazz this weekend in Rose City.

The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey's 2010 summer festival of baroque music started last Sunday, but will continue to run until this Sunday. This weekend, three of the festival's events will take place in Madison, and one will feature Madison High School and Drew University graduate, Amanda Tsukamoto.

Tsukamoto, who holds a degree in music, will be performing Bach pieces on the organ on Friday at the Grace Episcopal Church at noon. Admission is free.

The festival will continue Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., still at Grace Episcopal, with a performance of chamber music of the 17th and 18th centuries by the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey and special guest artists.

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the orchestra will perform at the church again, a collaborative concert with the Williamsburg Opera. They will perform a rare piece by Henry Purcell, "The Indian Gem."

Both the Friday night and Saturday night performances are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, and $5 for students. The baroque festival is among many concerts in Madison this weekend, as well as an arts workshop, card games, and a fundraiser.
