Plenty of Spots for Fun this Fourth of July Weekend

We've compiled a list of the best spots near you to view fireworks on Independence Day weekend, as well as a listing of related activities and parades by town.

It's the pinnacle of summer: the Fourth of July! There are plenty of events and festivities nearby Madison that you can make the celebration last all weekend long! We've compiled a list of all of the area's Independence Day festivities, including fireworks displays, so you can keep yourself occupied every day this weekend.

FLORHAM PARK
Monday, July 5
- 9 a.m. – Flag raising ceremony.
- 9:30 a.m. – Parade begins at Ridgedale Avenue and Brooklake Road.
- 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Family picnic at borough hall lawn. Games, rides, petting zoo and pony rides.
- 11:45 a.m. – Parade trophies awarded.
- 12 to 3 p.m. – Social Garden (21-and-over allowed only).
- 9 p.m. – Fireworks show.
Rain date is July 10

CHATHAM
Saturday, July 3
- 9:15 a.m. – Fire Department inspection.
- 10:30 a.m. – Parade (rain or shine). The 50-unit parade features nine bands, eight fire departments and numerous community organizations. The Psycho 78s Roller Derby Team—a new entry this year—will participate.
- Fireworks start at dusk at Chatham Middle School. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the entertainment begins about 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for borough residents, $3 for other individuals and $5 for other families.
Rain date is July 5

RANDOLPH
July 1-3
Three-day Freedom Festival
at Center Grove Road off Route 10
Thursday, July 1
- 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Featuring rides, games, food and crafts. One Price Night—ride all night for $25.
Friday, July 2
- 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Featuring rides, games, food and crafts.
Saturday, July 3
- 12 p.m. – Parade starts at Dover Chester Road and Randolph Avenue (Mount Fern Church) and ends at CCM. The parade will include bands, antique cars, horses and floats.
- 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Freedom Festival.
- 9:45 p.m. – Fireworks.
- 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. – DJ Music. Parking available for a $5 donation per car.
The rain date for both the Freedom Festival and fireworks is Sunday, July 4.

Macy's Fireworks Display NYC
For those traveling to Hudson County to view the Macy's Fireworks display on Sunday, people are urged to view them along the Hudson River in Weehawken or Hoboken. Views from Jersey City may be obstructed. Plan to arrive in the afternoon as crowds develop.
