UPDATED: Madison Schools Closed Monday

All traffic lights are out and many borough streets remain closed.

While most of Madison remained without power late Sunday morning, officials said they hope to have an estimated restoration time by this afternoon.

Meanwhile, students will receive their first snow day of the year as officials announced early Sunday afternoon that all Madison public schools will be closed on Monday.

According to Nixle alerts sent out Sunday morning, officials said crews continue to work to restore power as two JCP&L feeders . Officials also pointed out that the Madison Electric Utility Department is responsible for "the power line from the house to the pole."

Residents were once again advised on the potentially lengthy time in the dark.

"Again expect a lengthy power outage," one of the alerts read.

Officials also urged residents to remain off the roads since there are no working traffic lights and many borough streets remain closed.

The Madison Ambulance Corps building is once again open Sunday as a warming station. For those who need shelter, contact the Madison Police Department at 973-593-3000.

Operation Mischief Night at the Madison movie theater has been canceled for Sunday night.
