New Restaurant, Bracelets for Brooke, Mental Health Talk This Week

A look at what's happening this week in the Rose City.

Mental Health Services: Project Community Pride will be holding an open house 7 p.m. Monday in the Madison Civic Center, 28 Walnut St. Take part in a discussion about mental health services in the area and learn about the services available to children and families in Madison. Light refreshments will be served.

Borough Council: Madison's governing body is scheduled to meet Monday. The public portion of the meeting begins at 8 p.m. in Hartley Dodge Memorial.

Board of Education: A Madison school board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Madison High School. Approving the withdrawal of money from the district's capital and maintenance reserves is among the items on the agenda.

The funds will go toward new security measures such as swipe cards, lighting and cameras, and a roofing project at Torey J. Sabatini School, as well as fixing the Kings Road School retaining wall and windows at the high school.

New Restaurant: Benissimo is a new Italian restaurant on Park Avenue, where Chutney used to be. We'll chat with the owner about coming to Madison.

Bracelets for Brooke: Fundraisers and signs of support for Brooke Healey, who has an inoperable brain tumor and is the daughter of a Madison teacher, have been appearing around the borough in local stores and at wrestling meets. We will let you know where you can get a bracelet.
