Madison's Hearts Shine

Non-profit community represented in the headlines often.

It was a week where non-profits took the headlines on Madison Patch. Not only were there a number of great causes holding special events and campaigns, but we also unveiled what will be a weekly column spotlighting the community that gives back in the Rose City.

On Monday, we told you about how the Madison High School boys soccer team cut their hair for a good cause at their first pancake breakfast at the Madison Elks Club. We also brought you photos from the Madison Library and its art show from the Adult School of the Chathams, Madison and Florham Park. We gave you a video of the Planning Board honoring long-time member and chair Judy Mullins. Finally, we previewed the Dodgers cross country season.

On Tuesday, we told you how Jim Burnet was appointed to the newly created position of assistant business administrator. We also told you about how Madison had been turned teal to help raise awareness for ovarian cancer. You learned about how multiple traffic stops led to drug and alcohol related charges in the police blotter. Finally, we told you about how the Dodgers girls soccer team gained its second straight draw.

On Wednesday, we told you how the Board of Education created another section of first grade at Kings Road School, as well as appointed a third teacher for the grade. We also told you about how the Dodgers boys soccer team shut down Parsippany. We also told you about how the BOE approved the extracurricular appointment for this year, but that some members want to look closer at the sports budget this year.

On Thursday, we began a weekly column that will look at the borough's non-profit community called "Rose of Hope." We also told you about the latest production that Playwrights Theatre was putting on, entitled "Lost Boy Found in Whole Foods." We previewed the Dodgers football team's game against Kittatinny, as it went for a 2-0 start. Finally, we told you about the victories the Dodgers field hockey and girls tennis teams secured.
