Update: GVR Applicants 'Should Be Competitive'

Board of Ed meeting with Council was productive, Rowe said.

Leading real estate developers are interested in the five-acre property and the bidding process "should be very competitive," Board of Education Vice President Pat Rowe said during Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.

Madison Borough Council and Board of Education members met in executive session Wednesday afternoon at to discuss to express interest in redeveloping the property and show they are qualified, according to a notice on the borough website.

Rowe said the process is moving along.

"We had a productive conversation and are continuing to work on moving through the RFQ process," he said Wednesday.

Officials have said private meetings prevent applicants from gaining a competitive advantage.

School board President Lisa Ellis in the sale process.

Codey "assumed a leadership role in the progress that has been made in the process for the sale of GVR," she said during Monday's Borough Council meeting. "Ray's savvy and expertise were so important and we have lost his participation at a crucial juncture in this process. The timing could not have been worse."

NOTICE, that the Mayor and three Members of the Council of the Borough of Madison will join members of the Madison Board of Education at a Special Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Trustees Room at the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building, 50 Kings Road, Madison and immediately adjourn to an Executive Session. The Executive Session Agenda will include a Contract Matter. The Mayor and Council Members will meet with members of the Board of Education to discuss receipt of Requests for Qualifications for Interested Developers of the Green Village Road School Property redevelopment plan.
