Family Festival, Borough Council, 'Flash Bake Sale' This Week

Mayor and Council: Madison's governing body is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Monday at Hartley Dodge Memorial. The introduction of ordinances dealing with peddling and soliciting, appropriating $250,000 to remediate and improve safety at Bayley Ellard fields, and setting procedures for promoting and hiring police officers is on the agenda.

Boiler work: Boiler work at Hartley Dodge Memorial starts Monday. The public should continue to use the Kings Road front entrance or the Green Avenue accessible entrance to the building.

Fire Extinguisher Inspections: The Madison Chamber of Commerce will hold its biannual fire extinguisher inspections from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday on the corner of Central Avenue and Main Street. Look for the sign and balloons! The fee for extinguisher tagging is $15, and Chamber members will pay a discounted rate of $10, a substantial savings from the $85 on-site inspection charge. The program is open to all Madison businesses and residences. New and refurbished extinguishers will be available for purchase at a discounted price. Board of Education: Madison's school board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Madison High School. A reception for retired teachers and the teachers of the year is on the agenda.

Chamber Dinner: The Madison Chamber of Commerce's annual awards dinner is scheduled for 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center.

Family Festival: The Rotary Club of Madison's annual event is scheduled for noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of Realogy, 175 Park Ave. Profits will benefit Union Beach families who were affected by Superstorm Sandy. Fireworks by Garden State Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Parking and admission are free.

Flash Bake Sale: The kids at Grace Church in Madison hhave created a Flash! Bake Sale which will be held at locations around the borough from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday to help families in Oklahoma impacted by recent tornadoes.
