Council Term's End Means More Time for Family

With Monday night's Borough Council meeting the last of his three-year term, Don Links is looking forward to spending more time with his family.

Links, who is battling ALS, bowed out of his re-election bid in September and he said in an email Monday he hasn't looked back since he stepped out of the race.

Madison Councilman Dr. Vincent Esposito's life "was turned upside down in one fell swoop," he has said, after he was arrested on drug distribution charges in February for allegedly writing prescriptions for painkillers for people he never examined, including undercover law enforcement informants.

Construction Award Given to Madison Rec Center

The New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers gave the award for best construction project to Madison engineer Bob Vogel for his work on the Madison Recreation Center at the society's annual awards luncheon last week.

Elm St. Closed for Months for Bridge Repair

Elm Street will be closed at the NJ Transit bridge there for the next four to six months as part of a $1.5 million NJ Transit project to repair the concrete bridge and a retaining wall that runs along Kings Road.

Over $1.2M in Green Acres Funding Hinges on Fence

A fence is being constructed around a section of the Madison Recreation Center that is not being used for recreation purposes so Madison can receive more than $1.2 million in state Green Acres funding toward the 2008 acquisition of the property.
