Madison's governing body unanimously approved resolutions appointing Darren Dachisen as chief of the Madison Police Department and approving four other police promotions: Joseph Cirella and Dennis Lam were promoted to lieutenant, and Sean Plumstead and Craig Perrelli were promoted to sergeant.

A Fairleigh Dickinson University adjunct professor committed suicide and his wife, an advisor and department administrator at the school, was murdered inside their Parsippany home, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
