5 Things You Need to Know This Week

Read to a dog, watch Dodger sports, or sit in on a benefit Texas Holdem tournament.

The week gets started with a Martin Luther King Day remembrance, and there's plenty else on the calendar to keep you and yours busy.

Monday — "A Poor Man's Meal - To Celebrate and Remember the Life of The Rev. Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.," 12 p.m., , 34 Cook Ave. Annual meal of beans, cornbread and salad followed by the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Smith on "The Post Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Era."

Tuesday — Baby Rhymetime, 10:30 a.m., , 39 Keep St. For babies 0-24 months this storytime uses songs, nursery rhymes, oral stories, and fingerplays to introduce language, concepts, play, and other early literacy skills. The boys bowling team travels to Rockaway Lanes to take on Butler at 4 p.m., and wrestling hosts Dover at 7 p.m.

Wednesday — Read to a Dog, 7 p.m., . Children ages 6-10 can practice their skills reading to licensed therapy dogs. This program is designed to build confidence and vocabulary while children enjoy reading to their furry friends! On the hardwood, Dodger basketball: girls at Dover, boys at the high school, both at 7 p.m.

Thursday — Get out and exercise at a Zumba Class, 7:30 p.m. at the , 192 Main St. Madison ice hockey skates against Parsippany Hills, 8:15 at Mennen Sports Arena, 161 East Hanover Ave., Morristown.

Friday — Texas Holdem Poker Tournament to benefit the , 7 p.m. at the Madison Elks Lodge, 192 Main St.
