$47K in FEMA Storm Reimbursements for Madison

Federal emergency funds come in for rain damage, snow removal.

The Madison Office of Emergency Management announced that the borough will receive approximately $25,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency as reimbursement for snow removal costs for the December 26 snow storm.

This is in addition to the $22,000 from FEMA the borough had received earlier this year for damage incurred during the March, 2010 rain storm which caused wide spread flooding throughout the region.

FEMA had declared a region encompassing Madison and much of northern New Jersey a disaster area following these two storms, making communities within them eligible for reimbursement of a portion of the costs they incurred. The disaster declarations by FEMA, followed by declarations from the State of New Jersey, initiated a series of meetings by borough OEM Coordinator Bob Landrigan with both the Morris County OEM and FEMA that included site inspections.
