Ezra Klein To Speak at Drew on Wednesday

 Journalist Ezra Klein, the creator of The Washington Post’s Wonkblog, who recently announced he will be joining Vox Media, will be speaking at Drew University on Wednesday at the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts as the second speaker in the 2013-2014 Drew Forum lecture series.

 The event is sold out.

Klein is a columnist for Bloomberg News and a regular contributor and policy analyst for MSNBC. Klein was an associate editor at The American Prospect and a columnist at Newsweek. In addition to appearing and hosting on MSNBC, he has also appeared on Charlie Rose, Real Time with Bill Maher, The McLaughlin Group, The Colbert Report and many more. The Economist named him one of the “Minds of the Moment.”

He won the Online News Association’s award for best online commentary in 2013 and the Carey McWilliams Award for political journalism by the American Political Science Association. In 2011, Klein’s blog was the most read blog at the Washington Post and that same year he was named one of the most powerful people in Washington DC by GQ magazine. Time Magazine named his blog one of the 25 best financial blogs in 2011 and The Week Magazine named Klein Blogger of the Year in 2010.

Klein, who will be 30 this May, is a native of Irvine, California, and a graduate of UCLA. He worked for the Howard Dean campaign during the 2003 primary, interned at Washington Monthly in 2004 . He was hired by the Washington Post in 2009. He lives in Washington.

The Drew Forum, established in 1994, is the region’s leading public lecture venue. Past speakers have included American statesmen, foreign heads of state, nationally known journalists and noted historians.

The lecture series is presented with support from the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation and from former New Jersey governor Thomas H. Kean, who was president of Drew University from 1990 to 2005.

Klein’s 8 p.m. speech is sold out. Upcoming speakers in the series are former CNN Chairman Walter Isaacson, on Feb. 26, and Barbara Walters, co-host of the ABC talk show The View, on April 3. Individual tickets will be sold for Walters’ speech for $32 each and can be purchased through the Drew University Box Office at 973-408-3917. Tickets for the entire series are $107 plus handling.
