Jerry A. Miccolis Awarded the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst Designation

November 6, 2013 – Madison, NJ – Brinton Eaton, an SEC-registered wealth advisory firm based in Madison, New Jersey, announced today that Jerry A. Miccolis, Chief Investment Officer,  has been awarded the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst Designation (CERA) in recognition of his pioneering work in the field of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).  The CERA designation is awarded by the Global Treaty Board, representing the national governing bodies of the actuarial profession throughout the world.

The CERA credential combines a robust and forward-looking curriculum based on actuarial science with a strong code of professional conduct and continuing professional development requirements, making it the most advanced and rigorous ERM credential in the world.  ERM is the process by which organizations assess, control, exploit, finance, and monitor risks from all sources for the purpose of increasing an organization’s short- and long- term value to its stakeholders.

“The existence of the CERA designation is proof that the ERM discipline has come of age,” says Miccolis, one of the early architects of ERM during his prior 25-year career at the management consulting firm Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson).  “In the beginning, industry professionals and academics were generally skeptical of the ERM concept.  Today, it’s a recognized and respected discipline taught in business schools and adopted by companies and their boards worldwide.”  Over the past ten years, since his career change from corporate risk management to personal wealth management, Miccolis has been involved in the successful application of ERM principles to investment risk management, specifically the protection of individual client portfolios.

He resides in Basking Ridge with his wife, Marcella.
