Whole Foods Announces Third Morris Location

Company announced it will move into space currently occupied by A&P in Morristown.

The Madison Whole Foods will have even more company in Morris County in the next couple of years.

After announcing in August plans to open a second market in the county in Parsippany, the Austin, Texas-based company said Wednesday on its quarterly earnings call that, among a slate of new store openings, a in the space currently occupied by A&P on Washington Street.

A&P will retain the space until the end of 2013, said Michael Sinatra, a Whole Foods Market Northeast Public Relations representative. "It's still their space, they're still operating a store there."

For now.

"We have signed a lease saying that we will be utilizing the property," Sinatra said. "We have committed to it and as soon as we can take over, we will. We have long heard from that community that they wanted a Whole Foods nearby. We are excited to be coming a little closer to home."

In the meantime, while Whole Foods is aquiring new properties, are they going to invest in updating their existing stores like Madison? I've shopped in several Whole Foods and Madison is the forgotten child. Or are they just going to let Madison die a slow and painful death and eventually just close this store because Morristown and Parsippany are new and improved?
