Turkish Restaurant Could Come to Park Avenue

Sign says Turkish and Mediterranean eatery could open in space once used by Broccolini's.

A sign in the window of a Park Avenue building that formerly housed the Italian restaurant Broccolini's lets passersby know what could be going there next: a new Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant.

Broccolini's closed in February after the restaurant owner went to India to get married and then decided to work there, the owner of 91 Park Ave., Albert Chen, said.

Chen said he is working to file a site plan with the borough Planning Board to get the necessary approvals for a new tenant.

In response to a zoning permit application filed Sept. 5, borough zoning officer Frank Russo said that, while restaurants are allowed in the zone, there are no records of any site plan approvals for the current uses at the site, and a site plan application needs to be discussed before the Planning Board.
