Salon Returns to Madison
Strandz Salon J moves from Florham Park to new location on Main Street.
When Judith Falco opened Strandz Salon J on Main Street in Madison in July, she felt like she was back home.
It's Falco's third location in the borough over the past 40 years. Two years ago, Falco moved to Florham Park when her lease was up, but she always knew she wanted to return to Madison, she said. She was waiting for an opportunity.
"You get to know an area, it's comfortable, feels like home," she said.
Falco moved from Florham Park on Columbia Turnpike to Madison, next to Shanghai Jazz, where an insurance company used to be.
She renovated the salon using an eye for design she picked up from her father, who was an interior designer, she said.
Falco first opened Salon J next to Rose City Gemologists in 1973. Salon J later moved next to Il Mondo Vecchio. Falco then moved to Florham Park and started using the name Strandz.
Most of Falco's clients she has seen for more than 30 years, and now she does their families, she said. Falco works with five employees, including her daughter. She said the salon treats clients like family.
Strandz Salon J is located at 18A Main Street.
