Resto Closing, Favorite Dishes to Move Next Door

, the restaurant on Main Street in Madison opened four years ago by chef Robert Ubhaus, is closing and will serve its last dinner on Sunday, Sept. 2, Ubhaus announced in a letter to customers on Sunday.

Ubhaus will be focusing all of his energy and will be cooking full time in the kitchen at , a restaurant .

"It is with great sadness, but with no regrets, I must announce the closing of RESTO," Ubhaus wrote. "After four plus wonderful years, we will be serving our last dinner on Sunday, September 2nd.  Along the way, we think we have achieved some extraordinary things, including critical acclaim, but more importantly, the ability to serve you some incredible dishes and call many of you our friends. While RESTO might be closing, the great memories we have created with you will last evermore."

He said some of diners' favorites from Resto—such as foie gras, scallops, and duck breast—will be incorporated into the Rob's Bistro menu, which includes classic French dishes, including escargot, steak fries and creme brulee.

Any outstanding Resto gift cards will be honored at Rob's Bistro until the end of the year, the email said.

Rob's Bistro is a larger restaurant, with seating for 45 people compared 26 at Resto. It is does a higher volume of business and has a children's menu. Rob's Bistro also offers dishes at a lower price point. While the most expensive entrees at Rob's Bistro might be $30, that was essentially the starting point at Resto.
