Madison Jewelry Shop Moving to New Spot After 36 Years on Main Street

Emerson Elliott will face Waverly Green Lot after it relocates in January.

A Madison jewelry shop that has been in the same location on Main Street for 36 years is set to move into a new space next month.

Emerson Elliott at 27 Main St. will face the Waverly Green Lot after it moves in January to space behind Madison Wine Cellar next door, owner Jon Elliott said Wednesday.

Elliott, a Madison resident, opened Emerson Elliott with Hebby Emerson on Dec. 17, 1977. They met while students at Drew University, and Emerson still is involved with the business, Elliott said.

The shop will expand and emphasize its custom work and original designs, he said.

Elliott describes his designs—which include a "Celtic Eternity Ring," a brooch featuring acorns and oak leaves, and a ring inspired by Boticelli's "The Birth of Venus"—as classic and timeless, yet unique and different.

Elliott said the shop does museum quality work, and he makes informative service as well as calming music part of the shopping experience.

"I always play beautiful music," Elliott said.
