A new hospice and palliative care center is coming to Morristown Medical Center, thanks to a sizable donation from veteran hospice nurse Nancy Weinstein and her spouse, attorney Stephen "Skippy" Weinstein, the Daily Record reports.
The Harding Township married couple's contribution was inspired in part by Nancy Weinstein's work for poor people in urban parts of New Jersey. Having seen so much suffering, she told the Record that she wanted to ensure that terminally ill people had comfort and support.
The new Weinstein Family Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Center will be located inside the main hospital on the east wing of Simon 3. The amount of the Weinsteins' donation has not been revealed though Stephen Weinstein described it as “significant.” According to the article, the project goal is to raise $5 million for an 11-bed center; $3 million has already been raised. Hospital officials hope the center will be ready to open by the end of next year.
