BASF Pharma's Global HQ Moving to Florham Park

Business unit relocating from Evionnaz, Switzerland, to Park Avenue.

Chemical company BASF is moving its Pharma Ingredients & Services business unit from Evionnaz, Switzerland, to Florham Park, the company has announced.

Scott Thomson assumed the role of senior vice president in charge of BASF’s Pharma Ingredients & Services business unit on Monday, according to a BASF news release. Thomson previously was vice president of Market & Customer Development North America at BASF Corporation in Florham Park.

Thomson succeeds Martin Widmann, who now heads the Fuel & Lubricant Solutions unit in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

“By moving the headquarters of our global business unit to the United States, we are strengthening our presence in one of the world’s largest and most innovative markets for pharma products,” said Walter Dissinger, president of BASF’s Nutrition & Health division. "This will enable us to even better serve the needs and demands of our international customers in the future."

BASF produces and markets a range of active and inactive ingredients and exclusive synthesis services for the pharmaceutical industry.

The move of worldwide management functions from Switzerland to Florham Park will take place in stages over a period of six months, the company said.

BASF said the relocation will not affect the regional business and production units in Europe, including in Evionnaz.
