Who's Hungry? Students Serve Up Tasty Production of Sweeney Todd Starting Tonight

and the Madison Music Association will present the student production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The show will also be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19; and a 3:00 p.m. matinee Sunday, March 21, in the auditorium of the high school on Ridgedale Avenue.

The macabre musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler "is a chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime [and] tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe!"

The production involving 75 students will also be accompanied by a pit orchestra comprised of student musicians and seasoned professionals.
